It's rain, it's pouring.

Well, our wishes for October came true!
We saw Brian Regan live. He was (as predicted) hilarious.
At El Nopal, our favorite little across the border Mexican restaurant, waiting for our burritos and sangria before the show. I almost never smile with my teeth, but I decided to this time and Ty told me to stop making weird faces...

I didn't do my 5km run that I wanted to. But I ran (literally) into some issues with my IT band, which basically made it impossible to run even five laps around the track. So I'm working on stretching, and I bought a fancy compression band to help me get back into running.
Hmm, what else? Oh...right!
Both myself and Ty had our first interviews since moving to BC on the same day, and were both immediately hired! Now we're figuring out the balancing act. Both of our jobs are "on call" positions, so it's going to be alot of juggling (and rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock) to see who works which days of the week. Ty is extremely happy with his job so far (such a big time blessing!). He was in a grade 8 class today and a kid came up to him and said, 'I can't believe how nice the class is to you. Usually we make subs really upset. It must have been because you started the day with a riddle." Hee hee, I LOVE hearing stuff like this! As for me, I have just finished my orientation, so time will tell how I truly feel about my job (I can't say enough how thankful I am just to be working though!). I am trying to navigate my current scope of practice, which in Manitoba was at a higher level, and my role as an LPN here on the coast. Working in a long term care facility is also something I have not done before, and it's hard not to get discouraged with how difficult it is to find LPN work in acute care - but it's nothing I am worrying too much about right now. We have quite a bit on our plates as it is! The next decision we're looking into is to rent or to buy. It's a buyers market in the Fraser Valley right now, but that doesn't mean houses are being sold for peanuts. Our biggest question mark is location - we're still not quite sure exactly where we want to "settle" for right now. Add to all these decisions some nagging health issues that seem to make things quite a bit more difficult sometimes, and we really do have alot to wade through.
Amidst this, our boy is going through potty boot camp! Yesterday I answered the door for some terribly nice Jehovah's Witnesses with Hudson on my hip - completely bottomless. This is how he has spent pretty much the past 5 days. He refuses to wear a diaper (which does go on for naps and at night time for obvious reasons), but also is none too keen on telling us exactly when he has to go, so it involves alot of nagging and bribing on our part to get him to sit on his Sesame Street potty - but he's actually starting to get it! Watching Hudson grow up is happy and sad for me. Sometimes I find myself taking those extra minutes at bedtime to play "peek" and "what did we see at the zoo?" (where it's a continuous monlogue of Hudson saying, "Umm...hmmm...lion! Uh...hmm...zebra!" for about five minutes straight). I made the mistake of telling Hudson what we were going to do tomorrow on Halloween, and then I had to endure, "Yummy candy! Mommy, let's go!" for the next half an hour. He's just growing up so darn quickly!
Hudson proudly showing off Petri, his pet worm that he found at the park. Petri got a little dry and lifeless sitting in his spice container all day so I tossed him back out into the rain, much to Hudson's dismay.

Ok...so he still can be a sweet little baby sometimes!
Pictures to come tomorrow after Hudson is all dressed up in his extremely homely (but still adorable) $5 homemade snowman costume. We'll see if he lets us paint his face! Not sure how it's all going to work out, as it's predicted to be the wettest Halloween in 18 years around here, but we're going to have to get used to it sometime...right?
