Mealtime misbehavior

Dear Dr.Sears - how do I get my ten month old to have good high chair manners?
At lunchtime a couple days ago, when the standing-twisting-climbing-while-still-stuffing-food-in-his-mouth began.
And it's continued ever since!
Momentarily distracted by the hockey game.
Going back for more rice and beans.
So proud of himself. This won't last - will it??
 Sincerely, Stefanie

  1. Stef - I know what you're going through! Jerica used to do that no matter how tight the buckle around her tummy was! Little Houdini's in the making! Arrggh! We put Doug's old ties to good use and fastened her ankle to the highchair leg with one (sounds almost criminal doesn't it??) We only did a few times and every time after that she would "ask" (squawk and point to her feet) if we didn't do it when we first put her in the highchair. She wouldn't start eating until the tie was done up around her ankle. It gave us peace of mind that she wasn't going to topple to the floor! Just think of it as an extra seatbelt, for added safety!
