I flew solo with my baby on this trip for the second time (the first was last December - when I could still just nurse to keep him quiet!). Hudson is a terrific little traveler, but let's just remind everyone that he is still a baby after all, and babies at his age do not yet comprehend the basic rules of society. Rules such as personal space(ie. crumbling cookies on the 10 year old boy's lap next to us on the first flight), not talking to strangers (in other words, not escaping from underneath the bathroom stall while mommy is madly zipping up, and running for the nearest strange face in order to beg them to pick him up), and keeping your hands to yourself (especially in regards to pulling at the very puffy head of hair sticking up from behind the seat in front of us). And let's not get started on the awkwardness of holding a carryon, a purse, a carseat, and plane tickets while folding up a giant stroller and unsuccessfully trying to keep a 14 month old from scrambling through the other passengers to be first on to the plane. But, again, the kindness of strangers really blew me away - there were many people who were willing to step in before Hudson got too far from me, asking if I needed help with bags, and even just being understanding when Hudson would point to their glasses and call them "papa", and so forth. So all in all, not bad as far as flights go!
The Family
Being able to visit with family and friends is my main priority whenever I head out west. I am very thankful that those I am closest to all really live in the same area, which makes it easier to be able to plan times to venture out to different ends of the Fraser Valley for these visits (minus the fact that I am usually car-less and have to hitch rides wherever I go).
