Learning and creating

My latest creation from my mixed media class turned out to be very meaningful. When I started I really had no vision of where it would end up. I just began painting a few mountains, and soon I realized it very much incorporated some of the memories of my dad and growing up in the Fraser Valley.

I also made the maiden stitch on my sewing machine last week. Seriously, I was VERY concerned that I wouldn't even be able to thread it...something about the word "bobbin" was giving me the heebie jeebies (I think it may have something to do with the C I received in grade 8 sewing class). But, I pushed past my fears and ta-da! A wonderfully threaded machine! I even practiced some different kinds of stitching and was pleased that it wasn't even too crooked. Mostly. Can't wait to do some more practicing!

My awesome pea in a pod emery pin cushion! Who wouldn't want to get sewin' with this little guy around?
