toestablishorbecomeestablishedinawayoflife, job, residence, etc This is the word of the month. "So, settled in yet?" "We're taking our time settling in." "We'll get together once you're settled." I'm trying to be realistic when using this word, and admittedly I don't anticipate feeling "settled" for at least another six months. We are awaiting jobs, housing, and likely other changes too, which will all take time to get used to - once we even have all of it figured out (which we don't!). Add that to the pace change from Manitoba to BC (it's hugely noticeable), discovering new and old friendships, and the big time changes that Hudson has already had to get used to (like having a big boy bed!) - yeah, six months doesn't even seem like enough to really feel "settled." My emotions are up and down and sideways as we figure out how we really fit in to this space, but I know this is all part of the process. Yes.Process. In the mean time, we're laying low, enjoying the brand new space that my stepdad has built in our basement, and slowly finding our way in our new environment. I got my library card last week, which was terribly exciting for a nerd like me! The biggest obstacle to getting a nursing job is that I am STILL waiting for my nursing licensure in BC (which I applied for in February). I finally called the BC licensing body a couple of weeks ago and now it's all sorted out - so I'm hoping it will come this week, and I can start getting some applications out there. In the meantime, we'll take every day as it comes. Here is a little look at our lives over the past few weeks:
There have been beach days with aunties...
Spray ball showers with dad (ok...so the shower part was only Ty...seriously, he asked me to bring him soap while he as out in the backyard)...
Splashing time with grandma...
Weddings (ok...just one wedding...and featuring a Rosenort boy! It was funny to see a bunch of familiar Manitobans so soo after we left)...
Trips to the fair...
Playtime with second cousins...
And sister time for me!
We plan on continuing to enjoy the beautiful hot weather, and take it more or less easy until fall hits. We have had lots of good family time, and will hopefully keep it that way - especially because as life starts to get busier, there may not be as many Batman marathons with Chad and Laura or evening walks up to Cherry street with Hudson and my mom. Obviously we will still make time for such, but we just won't be quite as free. And maybe when it comes time to look for our own place, I will look into getting one of these so-called "settles", as mentioned above. A two-person throne with storage? Sign me up. You can never have too much storage.
