'Twas the Night Before Moving Day

I tried in vain to come up with something clever relating to the above referenced classic Christmas  ryhme, but my muddled brain isn't up to such right now.
Visions of cardboard boxes with mushy, rained-on corners are dancing in my head though! Really - it shouldn't be so bad. As far as moves go, this is probably going to be one of our easiest. Because we are taking up residence in my parent's basement, there is no huge panic to have every last piece of dust swept clean from every last windowsill, like you normally do when there is someone else's moving van obnoxiously revving their engine in front of their new home, as you swiffer your last inch of laminate from your now 'old' house. We will have everything cleared out and looking squeaky clean here in the basement over the next little bit, but really we just do not have a whole lot of stuff from here to move! Most of it is in storage, all in labelled boxes, that will just need to be transferred from the garage to the trailer to our new basement suite. Yep, we're going back to renting, friends, but we're pretty happy about it! We feel it's the best decision for our family at this point, until we figure a few more things out.
So I guess the fun will begin with the unpacking. Especially with little to no storage. And then there's changing a million addresses...forwarding mail...sigh. My guess is we'll be here for a little while, just for the fact that moving take alot out of a person! Oh, and did I mention that we got rid of half our wordly possessions (mostly furniture) before leaving Manitoba? Which equals trips to Ikea, garage sailing, and thrift-storing for the next little bit. Not that it's all bad (winking emoticon).
The next few weeks I'll be wrapped up in unpacking, organizing, and re-organizing. Oh, and decorating for Christmas (something I always enjoy)...which includes Amy Grant on repeat and a constant supply of apple juice and epicure mulling spices for making cider in the evenings. I have not 'unwound' since I got here; there has been stress building inside me since we landed, and I'm looking forward to hopefully just plain feeling better over the next while.
So...merry moving day to us (and Chris and Danielle, whose suite we're taking over, and who has a CONSIDERABLY more stressful move than us)! Oh...and to all a good night!

The start of a sea of boxes before we moved the last time (ALL of which handpacked by yours truly). Looking at these pictures makes me SO thankful that this move is not an across-the-country one again!
Miss you, home on Zacharias drive! I even miss our lovely dirt mountain landscape!
